Position Duties : The engineer will work with C-Byte's ASP Performance team consisting ofindustry's leading experts on software performance.
He / She will be working with them in making sure the performance ofC-Byte's solutions is the best in the industry. As part of a highly motivated team, the individual will develop benchmarks,test to scale, analyze, optimize, and tune end user applications for deployment into an ASP environment.
C-Byte, Inc. isentering the ASP market in a big way. We will be partnering with the key ASPs in providing optimal solutions and ASP capabilities.
We will bring low-end and midrange web enabled business environments to large-scale ASPs enabling the rental of application software environments by end users.
The candidate will be required to define and develop the methodology of bringing C-Byte's solutions to ASPs. This will involve working with low-
end and mid-range ISVs to select application software that will scale to support millions of users. One the selection is made, large HW / SW configurations need to be set up and the million user load needs to be generated.
This capability needs to be show cased to the ASP. In addition, the best known methods used to set up this environment needs to be documented for any ASP to implement the solution for a production environment.
This position requires and understanding of computer architecture, operating systems fundamentals, network and I / O performance, and knowledge of performance optimization and / or benchmarking.
Good analytical skills and the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment are essential. Hands-on experience with web-based application, database (Oracle, SQL Server) and various application architectures is highly desirable.
Previous experience in analyzing and optimizing complex applications and / or benchmarks on Windows NT and UNIX is a strong plus.
Understanding of hardware (processor, memory, cache, disk subsystems and networking) performance issues would be a definite advantage.
Programming experience in one or more of the following is desirable; C / C++, Java, SQL, FORTRAN, UNIX shell programming.
Excellent verbal and written communication and inter-personal skills are a prerequisite.
Education and Experience : Requires a B.S. degree or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years experience with a thorough technical knowledge of company products.
M.S. degree in Computer Science preferred.
