Essential Functions (Job Duties) Successful applicant will embark on research programs in investigating the molecular mechanisms of the development of diabetic retinopathy.
Other responsibilities include writing peer-reviewed manuscripts and project reports, supervising technicians and students (undergraduate, graduate, & medical) students, and participating in grant proposal applications.
Unique Duties Carry out experiments independently involving molecular, functional and structural alterations in diabetic retinopathy, and examining the role of epigenetics in mitochondrial homeostasis in diabetic retinopathy.
Participate in local, national, and international research meetings. Write research proposal for intramural and extramural funding support.
Qualifications Ph. D in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Cell biology or related area plus 5 years of experience in working with animal models of ocular diseases, specifically in the area of diabetic retinopathy.
The candidate is expected to have a solid background in molecular, biochemical and functional assays, and good writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to the applicant with good publication record in diabetic retinopathy and previous independent funding.
