Lumentum is seeking a Hardware Development Engineer for the Transmission Division to work on the development of tunable transceivers at 10Gbs and 25Gbs.
The successful candidate should be highly motivated and demonstrate an ability to multi-task and to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsible for the design of optical transceiver at 10 Gb / s and 25 Gb / s.
Create Schematic and layout circuits at high speeds.
Select Components for analog, digital, optical, and high-speed application
Responsible for the characterization of optical transceivers at 10Gb / s to 25 Gb / s.
Assure design for performance, manufacturability-y and cost.
Characterization of optical sub-assemblies (TOSA / ROSA)
Carry on debugging on test stations and modules
Work with test and firmware engineering in the development of transceivers
Carry on Design Verification Tests (DVT). Write technical reports.
Support qualification activities
Interact with internal design engineers in US and overseas and external vendors
Participate and contribute to customer meetings
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering / Physics or equivalent education and experience
5+ years industry experience with MS or 2+ years’ experience with a PhD degree.
Extensive experience using high-speed optical and electrical equipment : Scopes, Bit-Error-Rate Testers, Vector Analyzers, Optical Spectrum Analyzers, Optical Attenuators, Wavelength meters, tunable filters, optical noise sources, etc.
Experience characterizing high-speed optical transceivers : Extinction Ration, Eye Diagram, OSNR, Sensitivity.
Knowledge of impairment in DWDM systems
Knowledgeable of high speed optoelectronic devices (e.g. lasers, detectors, modulators)
Multi-disciplinary background with a demonstrated record of innovation
Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
Experience with Tunable Lasers
Experience characterizing 10G and 25 tunable optical transceivers
Experience with PCB schematic design, board bring up and troubleshooting
Strong foundation in digital and analog circuit design
Experience with RF design
