Our client is a tier 2 main contractor who are currently operating at a turnover of £18M. They are a family run company who have been working in surfacing and highways maintenance for over 40 years.
Our client has 2 offices both based in North West London, which is where they do nearly all of their work. They also operate a few subcontract projects in Surrey and Buckinghamshire.
In terms of stability, my client are a cash rich company who are in a very strong and stable financial situation.
About the role
Due to the company looking to expand their commercial team, there is need for a Quantity Surveyor to support the Head of Commercial.
My client is looking for somebody who is very hands on, somebody who can take responsibility and somebody who is willing to help out in other parts of the company if needed, e.g. estimating.
The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring and managing costs on their responsible projects with the goal of making each as profitable as possible, ensuring the delivery of payment and the development of client relationships.
You will also be involved in viewing and evaluating payments including site measurements (as necessary) and will undertake general surveying of projects as required.
This will include reviewing and pricing of variations and preparing valuations with Project Managers and the Head of Commercial.
The project that you will initially be involved in is a town centre regeneration scheme which is focused on aesthetic features such as footpaths, bridge repairs, hard and soft landscaping, playgrounds and surfacing.
There are six years left on this project which is worth £10M a year. Further projects may include a similar 10 year project which the client is expecting to hear about at the end of the April.

You’ll be rewarded with a very competitive salary ranging from £50,000 £65,000 + (depending on experience) + either a company car or car allowance.
About the requirements
You’ll be required to have a good standard of education preferably to a Foundation Degree level (HND or HNC) in Construction, Civils, Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying (or hold an equivalent qualification).
It’s important you can demonstrate experience working within the civil engineering and highways maintenance sector working for a tier 2 or tier 3 sub-
contractor or main contractor.
You’ll also need a full UK driver’s license to allow you to get from office to site and other locations you might be required to visit.
