Performs essential clerical duties associated with the nutritional care and food services provided to all patients. Acts as liaison between dietary staff and others in the organization.
Minimum Job Requirements
1+ year of experience working in a hospital diet office and / or as s Tray Line Worker.
Job Specific Essential Duties :
Provides outstanding customer services as determined by a Q / A score of 80% or higher service level on the Nutrition Assistant shadow report, utilizing specific MCHS script and proper phone etiquette.
Answers telephone promptly within 3 rings, takes messages, and relays information per shift if escalation is needed.
Informs supervisor of all nourishments requested (milk, formula, cups) etc. by nursing; summarizes the requested supplies daily on the summary sheet prior to the end of shift.
Inputs and reports statistical data for quality assurance. Tracks meal supplements in system i.e. how many meals, verbal orders, breakfast, lunch, dinner and special units.
Supports Room Service area with preparing food (cutting, chopping and organizing foods) in the tray line area as needed.
Inputs Weiland and special diet menus (eating disorders, Ketogenic diets, etc.)
Maintains the work area in a clean and organized condition at all times.
Monitors the flow of patient room service calls. Checks Cerner system to verify correct diet order for appropriate age and meal plan.
Updates CBORD data in a timely manner for changes and reports data to CBORD coordinator. Evaluates if adjustments are needed per shift based upon volume.
Verifies accuracy of special diet menus before each meal period for new system orders from room service calls.
Initiates all credit card transactions for guest meals within a timely manner, ensures safeguards to protect customer information.
Common Duties :
Maintains accountability by ensuring compliance thru timely completion of licensures, certifications, all competencies, health requirements (PPD, N95, Flu) and education requirements.
Maintains accountability and timekeeping expectations as outlined by MCHS Timekeeping and Attendance policy & procedures.
Ensures behavior is compliant with communication standards.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
High school education or equivalent preferred
1 year phone experience in a customer service role highly preferred
Ability to communicate sufficiently well in English both verbally and in writing
Knowledge of Spanish highly preferred
Able to use computers and ability to learn appropriate software application(s)
Experience with CBORD System highly preferred
Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with customers and co-workers
Ability to handle repetitive tasks with high caution to details
Able to follow simple verbal instructions to accomplish repetitive tasks
Able to multitask, i.e., perform data entry while answering customer calls
Excellent customer service skills
