Job Description :

Using senior-level system analysis, design, development, and integration skills, the Senior Software Engineer will address complex technical issues for the ApplyTexas suite of services, and lead the organization in best practices utilizing a broad range of technical solutions.

Job Details : Responsibilities


Analyze technical problems. Design, code, develop, and document solutions and software where maintainability and reduction of technical debt are primary considerations.

Utilize test-driven development and lead code reviews. Develop system architectures and design patterns so that solutions can be replicated for sustainability.

Consult on other technical architecture solutions.

Communicate effectively with the ApplyTexas team and stakeholders to elicit and document requirements, present solutions, and investigate and resolve issues.

Be part of team to assess and execute moving the entire ApplyTexas system off of the UT mainframe to Amazon Web Services.

Provide input for the development of departmental standards, process improvements, and technical documentation.

Represent the department and the university at industry conferences, seminars, and events.

Provide mentorship and training to other technical staff.

Manage technical projects independently. Provide advanced operational support to include monitoring systems, investigating issues, and remediating code deficiencies.

Integrate systems with functional interoperability.

Required Qualifications

Three years' software development experience. Deep knowledge of software development principles, methods, and techniques.

Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and testing complex software applications. Ability to design systems for high availability, security, manageability, reliability.

Demonstrated experience working with API technologies such as SOAP, Web Services, and REST. Production experience with relational databases within Amazon Web Services.

Proficiency with Python and Django Web Framework. Ability to mentor team members and ensure that implemented solutions meet expected quality standards and fulfill the architectural vision.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

More than three years' software development experience. Proficiency in additional software languages. Familiarity with Postgres (PostgreSQL) databases.

Familiarity with building microservices and with NoSQL databases. Strong interest in UX design and client-centered approaches to development.

Ability to handle flexible work schedules of colleagues.AWS Certification is a plus.

Salary Range

$80,000+ depending on qualifications

May require occasional extended work hours or on-call obligations.
