The University of Utah Manufacturing Extension Partnership ( UUMEP ) Center is the official representative of the MEP National Network in Utah.
The MEP National Network is a public-private partnership that delivers comprehensive, proven solutions to U.S. manufacturers, fueling growth and advancing manufacturing.
In 2016, the MEP National Network connected with 25,445 manufacturers, leading to $9.3 billion in sales, $1.4 billion in cost savings, $3.
5 billion in new client investments, and helping to create and retain more than 86,602 U.S. manufacturing jobs.
The UUMEP Center focuses on helping small and mid-sized manufacturers generate business results and thrive in today’s technology-
driven economy, by providing any Utah manufacturer with access to resources they need to succeed.
The Manufacturing Consultant initiates and maintains relationships with manufacturers, assesses their challenges and opportunities, and sells UUMEP’s continuous improvement consulting and training solutions.
Responsibilities include analyzing customer needs and identifying potential UUMEP resources, leading sales calls and delivering sales presentations, coordinating sales efforts with UUMEP’s technical experts, building the sales pipeline, and networking to generate sales leads.
Manufacturing Consultants provide direct consultation to manufacturers within their own area of expertise, prepare proposals deliver sales presentations, and manage project engagements.
They also develop and manage third party resources, and participate on UUMEP’s service development and process improvement teams.

Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on manufacturing, engineering, technology, and consulting and / or business management required.
Master’s Degree preferred. Four years or more of advanced experience in manufacturing sales, consultative sales and / or business-
to-business sales preferred.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Particular consideration will be given to candidates with the proven ability to lead companies down a path of continuous improvement, with the demonstrated capacity to diagnose company needs and effectively communicate value to all levels of the company, from production personnel to top management.
Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Candidates should be sincerely interested in helping manufacturers implement new manufacturing techniques and processes.
Must have strong work ethic, a passion for consultative selling, a great attitude, and ability to thrive in an autonomous, objective-
driven environment. An UUMEP Manufacturing Consultant will need tact and diplomacy in interacting with manufacturers, professional associations, government stakeholder representatives, and other service providers.
Position requires travel to manufacturing facilities across the state. Driving is an essential function of the job. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the U.S.
Applicants must be capable of accessing manufacturing facilities which may not be ADA accessible.
