The Temple Collaborative on Community Inclusion of Individuals with Serious Mental Illnesses in the College of Public Health’s Social and Behavioral Sciences department is seeking to hire two part time (20 hrs.

week) Community Inclusion Peer Support Specialists.

The Community Inclusion Peer Support Specialist will be responsible for the facilitation of a peer-led intervention (transportation intervention, internet peer support intervention) being tested by the Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion.

Primary responsibilities include : conducting assessments, co-developing treatment plans with individual clients, facilitating intervention activities, and documenting intervention processes and participant outcomes.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience :

At least 1 year of directly related experience in peer counseling including clinical experience supporting community participation for individuals with serious mental illnesses.

Completion of a Certified Peer Specialist Training course, with documentation. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities :

  • Excellent judgment and the ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated expertise in implementing client-driven services including assessment, individualized treatment planning, implementation, and evaluation of services.
  • Demonstrated comfort in delivering treatment services in the Philadelphia community.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate all standard office equipment and software including MS Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with diverse populations of students, faculty, staff, consumers, and mental health providers.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and planning.
  • Demonstrated ability and comfort using Philadelphia public transportation (SEPTA) and riding a bike in an urban setting.
  • Interest in rehabilitation research.
  • This is a grant-funded position.
