Allied Universal Security Officer - Access Control Operator

Officer duties vary from patrol to staffing a security office, this is an industrial manufacturing site and may at any time have inherent associated hazards present.

Duties will include Answering and transferring calls, entering shipment and trailer data into client program, verify contractor safety training, monitor a very extensive fire alarm system and make appropriate notifications as needed for alarms, monitor and answer dedicated site emergency phone and act as an emergency dispatcher, operate mill-

wide alarm system for emergency notifications, interact with the general public, interact with government officials and law enforcement, make notifications to specific members of client management as needed based upon the type of incident that has occurred, utilize CyCop phone system throughout shift, provide access control support to client, act as a physical deterrent to prevent theft, investigate and document unsafe conditions or accidents as reported or observed, respond to and investigate suspicious activity, supporting the clients safety procedures and safety culture within our scope of work.

Officers may be required to stand, walk, or drive for extended periods of time. Must be able to work outside in the elements as needed to include extreme temperatures.

Must be able to climb up / down multiple flights of stairs as needed, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must have vision that is 20 / 20, or correctable to 20 / 20.

Must be comfortable driving multiple types of vehicles in all conditions, and at any time of the day.New hires provided at least 40 hours paid OJT, and will have additional client specific mandated training beyond AUS mandated items.

This is a DHS Safety Act Site, counter-terrorism training is extensive. All training is provided at no charge to the officer, and all training time is either paid time or provided while on shift.

Some programs and training will have deadlines that must be met, and may be held off-site and outside of officers normal schedule.

Florida Security Class D License required prior to official hire and on-boarding; if needed, AUS will sponsor applicant’s class and licenses up front with a reimbursement agreement from the officer (paid back over 8 checks).

This training is not compensated time.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS :

  • Be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner
  • Valid guard card / license, as required in the state for which you are applying.
  • As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background investigation and a drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
  • Display exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Have intermediate computer skills to operate innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites
  • Ability to handle crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently
  • Able to : Work in various environments such as cold weather, rain / snow or heatOccasionally lift or carry up to 40 poundsClimb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shiftStand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time
