The Client Group has a presence in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia, and is composed of five main areas :

  • Sales & Client Services works with financial intermediaries and institutions to offer diversified investment solutions that help clients build and preserve their wealth
  • Business Development is a conduit to the firm’s investment teams and supports our clients and internal business partners through investment-
  • platform and product content, messaging, competitive analysis and education

  • Product Strategy & Development designs, develops and manages the firm’s global lineup of investment services and considers clients’ evolving needs to identify new opportunities
  • Marketing promotes the firm and its services by creating, packaging and distributing content and messaging to engage diverse audiences through digital platforms and initiatives, strategic campaigns, and events
  • Business Transformation looks to evolve and scale our business, leveraging digital and data, to drive top-line growth and improve profitability
  • Responsibilities

    The objective of product strategy and development is to drive top and bottom line growth through innovation, development and lifecycle management of differentiated solutions that we offer to clients.

    In partnership with investment, business development and distribution, Product Strategy & Development identifies key product themes and prioritize new product ideas that complement the existing product offering and provide future area of growth for the firm’s Retail, Institutional and Private Client businesses in the Americas.

    Lead diverse cross-functional teams to drive product initiatives that span the lifecycle of an offering including : strategy / ideation, research / design, set up (new launches, enhancements, mergers, liquidations, etc.)

  • The Assistant Vice President will work closely with colleagues in AB’s US product development team, product research, sales, product management, investments, legal, global fund Admininstration and other cross functional teams to help achieve the objectives of the group;
  • and will lead certain initiatives. This role provides exposure to senior investment professionals and the opportunity for career advancement.

    1. Research and Design

  • Support the creation of business proposals and recommendations for new products or product lines as appropriate - including market scope, competitive landscape, AB value proposition, economics, complexity / obstacles to entry.
  • This will involve engaging other groups to dimension these variables

  • Coordinate with product research to keep current on sales and product development trends in market place, and to request landscape research on investment categories that we are pursuing
  • Support research of new products, and enhancements to existing products in concert with product research, including terms, fees, expenses
  • Create agendas for both large cross-functional meetings as well as smaller topic specific meetings to finalize terms
  • Create schematics, workflows, client census, and other analysis to highlight deltas to existing processes, to engage cross functional teams, or management on terms
  • Author term sheets - which detail investment offering and operational terms of a new service, or enhancements to an existing service
  • Support creation of timelines - coordinate with product development colleagues, product managers and sales to assure timelines are aligned, and guide tracking of open issues
  • Review offering docs for specific variables to assure docs are aligned with agreed-to investment, offering, and operational terms
  • Identify and help eliminate barriers to project success and as needed, escalate any significant problems or issues that arise
  • 2. Product Approvals

  • Build business case, in concert with product research, product management and sales, for review & approval by firm’s investment & distribution leadership
  • Support creation, review and sign-off of board materials
  • 3. Implementation

  • Work closely with product development implementation during and after R&D and Approval process to assure new features are fully identified and scoped, and best practices integrated in design and launch game plan
  • 4. Post Launch Measurement & Governance

  • Monitor performance and asset raise trajectory vs plan
  • Provide business support for Fund Board annual fee renewal process
  • 5. Overall Product Pipeline Calendar & Priorities

  • Support maintenance of firm product development plan.
  • Support prioritization of initiatives with PD team and cross-functional colleagues.
  • Qualifications

    The ideal candidate should have :

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience with at least 2 years of experience in a Senior Analyst / Associate role at an asset management firm in a product development / management or strategy function;
  • strategy consulting firm; or investment bank

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Pursuing a CFA is a plus. FINRA Series 6, 7, 63 required (can be acquired post hire)
  • An understanding of the US marketplace and regulatory environment
  • Broad investment management and financial market knowledge across equities, fixed income, multi-asset, and alternatives
  • Knowledge of the institutional and retail marketplace : understanding client needs, market trends and the competitive landscape
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability; well-developed critical thinking skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and build strong internal networks with individuals at a range of levels and from a variety of departments
  • Ability to lead and motivate a cross-section of teams to achieve timely and efficient execution of various projects
  • Capable of dealing with changing priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Detail oriented with ability to work independently and maintain high standards
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management and time management skills
  • Experience making workflows more efficient
  • Proven ability to multi-task across projects / requests and works well under time demands
  • Strong working knowledge of industry analytical tools including Morningstar Direct
