Position Summary :

The Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary medicine has multiple openings for oncology technicians. These positions will provide technical support to clinical faculty and senior veterinary students in the oncology section of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, including ward and treatment room management, administering treatments, chemotherapy agents, and medications ordered by clinical faculty and residents.

Position will be located at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Blacksburg and then eventually move to CORC in Roanoke. The job duties will change when it moves to CORC, and will include Anesthesia, Surgery and Radiology.

Required Qualifications :

Licensed or Licensed eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Veterinary Technician (LVT). Experience in critical care nursing in a veterinary medical setting.

  • Working knowledge of basic nursing skills; ability to place intravenous catheters; working knowledge of CPR; ability to understand and follow instructions;
  • excellent communications and interpersonal skills; rabies prophylaxis will be required (provided by employer).

    Preferred Qualifications :

    Experience working in a veterinary clinical setting, with experience in oncology and chemotherapy preferred.

    This position is considered essential and must report to work during emergency and inclement weather closings. This position will initially be hired and staffed in Blacksburg, Virginia, but will eventually move to and be housed in the CORC in Roanoke, Virginia
