Merrick is a mid-sized multi-discipline, employee owned consulting engineering firm. The Company’s long-range plan is to supplement our successful river restoration group with high-

  • tech Geomorphology capabilities. The primary water group office is in Denver, Colorado. Other Merrick offices outside of Colorado which offer water services include San Antonio, Texas;
  • Charlotte, North Carolina.

    Merrick is currently seeking a Senior-Level Geomorphologist with experience on stream restoration design, fluvial geomorphology, stream ecology and stream assessment.

    This position would be in our river design group located in the Denver Office at Diamond Hill. The successful candidate would work collaboratively with our engineers on various river and urban waterway projects located in Colorado as well as throughout the U.

    S. Other commentary background and specializations such as implementation of aquatic and riparian habitat restoration and wetland mitigation projects or engineering is advantageous.

    The demonstrated ability to market this type of work and at least 10-years’ experience is required.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an A.B.E.T. Accredited School is required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Ten (10) plus years of experience in Colorado preferred
  • High ethical standards, unquestionably trustworthy.
  • The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, be sociable and friendly and to effectively interface with clients in the water sector.
  • Must have demonstrated success in Marketing and Business Development for professional engineering / restoration services, preferably in the front range.
  • Dedicated to quality must do it right .
  • Affiliations with related professional organizations is preferred.
  • Strong technical design experience in Geomorphology, river restoration, vegetation
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.

  • Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as but not limited to : computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, scanners and plotters.

    Position will require trips to client sites and familiarity with safety in and around rivers. Candidate must be willing and able to take and comply with various safety requirements and work in noisy environments while executing their assigned tasks.
