LING 300 - Introduction to Linguistics

The Department of Liberal Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for academic year 2018 / 19 to teach LING 300 Introduction to Linguistics.

Candidates should have interests in or experience in teaching a class which : An introduction to linguistic analysis of the languages of the world, the production and organization of natural sound systems, word and sentence formation patterns, and the linguistic organization of meaning.

Included are introductions to language acquisition, dialect variations according to culture, region, social group, gender, and age, language history and change, animal communication, and language and the brain.

Minimum qualifications :

A Master’s degree in a related field.

Preferred qualifications :

A Master’s or a Ph.D. in a related field and experience teaching courses on linguistics.

Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated teaching excellence and demonstrated commitment to diversity and / or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.
