The Marketing Communications Specialist will plan, execute and manage key marketing communication programs and projects worldwide across all media including print, digital, and web for the Clinical Diagnostics Division Niche Products business.
Working closely with the Product Management team in Fremont and the Regional Marketing teams, the Specialist will translate marketing plans into integrated and executable communication strategies, providing promotional and lead generation support for a variety of targeted markets.
The Specialist is responsible for message development, management of marketing campaigns, product launch planning, webpage development and updates, collateral development, vendor management, advertising and interactive / social media.
The position is based in Fremont, California and reports to the Marketing Manager, Global Downstream Marketing.
What will you do?
Drive MarCom projects, including promotional materials, product launch packages, product literature, e-mail campaigns, advertising, product catalog, etc.
Develop understanding and knowledge of the industry and customer segments, their needs and requirements to support Thermo Fisher Scientific’s product and service offerings.
Collaborate closely with product management, strategic marketing and commercial teams to ensure alignment with goals and consistency in messaging.
Participate in planning, developing and scheduling MarCom programs to build brand awareness, preference and loyalty.
Create effective tactics for assigned product lines and target markets and customers.
Develop impactful collateral following the corporate branding templates and guidelines. Manage collateral approval process and assist Business with record keeping.
Ensure timely and effective MarCom deliverables for new product launches including review and refinement of plans and materials within the given budget.
Plan and schedule social media posts to drive awareness and engagement for various marketing campaigns.
Align with Divisional and group contacts to assure CRM and marketing automation platforms are compliant and align across larger Thermo Fisher Scientific goals and long term strategy.
Effectively communicate the MarCom tactics to regional / country MarCom teams to support the implementation of regional MarCom tactics such as PR, email campaigns, advertising placements and direct mailers for assigned product lines.
Proactively collaborate with product managers and regional marketing teams to determine product promotion opportunities.
Create integrated marketing messages and materials to drive awareness and education.
Design marketing collateral, including layouts, based on brand templates. Perform graphic edits to collateral as needed.
Assist in the direction of in-house and external creative teams, fostering and managing relationships with agencies, writers, designers, illustrators, photographers and videographers.
Write, proofread and consult on the creation of creative briefs, web and digital initiatives, literature, promotions, and internal / external business communication.
Develop and deliver material to internal Thermo Fisher communications platforms.
Work with divisional contacts to assist with tradeshow logistics and messaging, in collaboration with product managers.
Utilize various online tools : image database, collateral libraries, CRM database, etc.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
How will you get here?
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communication, Life Science or related field.
Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in a marketing communications function, preferably in organizations supporting analytical solutions in the scientific or medical industry.
Proven ability to distill complex ideas into simple messaging.
High comfort level with scientific and / or analytical chemistry topics required. Experience in life sciences diagnostics a plus.
This position requires strong project management, creative, and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel.
Additionally, market and domain knowledge is important.
Proven ability to distil complex ideas into simple messaging.
Experienced in using the Adobe Creative Suite software, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe CQ5, and Acrobat, desired.
Experience working with marketing automation and digital marketing tools such as Hootsuite, Salesforce, Google AdWords, Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and Eloqua is a plus.
Experience using social media platforms to plan and schedule social media posts to drive awareness during tradeshows and for various marketing campaigns.
Ability to manage and work with several vendors and keep track of multiple projects in parallel.
Ability to support integrated marketing campaigns to drive awareness and lead generation for the full Thermo Fisher offering.
Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Experience working in a cross-functional environment and in matrix organization environment critical.
Experience working in a global environment, supporting various regions, preferred.
Proven ability at learning in-depth product knowledge within multiple product lines.
Proactive self-starter able to work autonomously and as a team-player.
Minimal travel, up to 25%.
