Scientific Software Solutions Engineer
We are seeking an experienced scientific software developer to join our team to deliver solutions that streamline Pfizer’s R&D workflows and enable data driven decision-making.
This Solution Engineer (SE) is a member of the WRD Solutions organization whose mission is to help bring medicines to patients through the delivery of impactful and sustainable technology solutions for the research and development functions of Pfizer by providing the talent for technology planning, project execution and application development excellence.
The primary focus of the role will be the design, implementation and support of fit-for-purpose solutions primarily targeting Pfizer’s Vaccines R&D organization.
A good balance of scientific knowledge and solid technical skills will be key to the success of this role.
Collaborate with Client Partners to understand the needs and requirements of R&D scientists.Design and implement minimally viable products (MVP) from an initial set of requirements, employing agile methodologies for rapid solution evolution.
Work closely with R&D scientists to ensure that the solutions meet their needs and to identify areas for improvement.Manage stakeholder expectations on project scope, deliverables and timelines.
Guide the work of other developers (FTE or contract) as required by individual initiatives.Work in a matrix, team environment with Pfizer colleagues as well as vendor partners.
Mentor junior members in the software development team on best practices in software development.Advocate for Agile and DevOps methodologies, and keep abreast of emerging technologies.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, bioinformatics or related fields, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
Experience with the software development life cycle.Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems with innovative approaches.
Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer experience.
Advanced degree (MS, PhD) in a field relevant to the role.Experience in life science informatics.Demonstrated ability to develop competency in new technology and areas of science relevant to drug discovery.
