JOB TITLE : Mobile Equipment Mechanic JOB CODE : 93512

PRIMARY FUNCTION :

Provides skilled craft knowledge to be able to diagnose, repair, rebuild, tune and service all types of engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, air, hydraulic and electrical systems on plant mobile equipment.

Installs and maintains all types of automotive equipment and automotive facilities. This position requires four years of training and related experience.

This position requires continual education to remain current with increasing technology. Operates mobile and fixed equipment necessary to complete job task assigned.

MACHINES & EQUIPMENT USED :

Electronic engine analysis equipment, engine rebuilding tools, precision measuring equipment, hydraulic testing equipment, engine diagnostic equipment, electrical testing equipment, electrical rebuild equipment, cranes and other heavy equipment, welding equipment, and automotive shop equipment.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED :

Maintenance Supervisors, Planners, Lead Person, and Team Leaders

DIRECTION EXERCISED :

Works alone or in all types of team concepts. Instructs and directs craft and production personnel, apprentices, helpers, and contractors.

Evaluates work assignments with other plant personnel and determines any required improvements in methods and procedures.

DUTIES :

Observes the federal, state, plant and departmental environmental, health and safety rules.

Tunes, services, diagnoses, repairs and rebuilds all types of LP, Gasoline, and Diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, and equipment systems on heavy duty mobile and stationary equipment by utilizing standard analysis and rebuilding tools in the field or in the shop.

Conducts periodic preventative maintenance checks, performs any necessary servicing, and advises the supervisor for immediate corrective action necessary to prevent serious damage.

Performs preventative maintenance, inspection and repairs on motorized manlifts, boom trucks, and mobile cranes.

Analyzes and performs jobs by using manuals, diagrams, schematics, blue prints and work orders when repairing mobile equipment.

Provides planning and proactive maintenance evaluations for all crew assignments.

Knowledgeable on computerized control systems.

Replaces glass; straightens, repairs or replaces sheet metal as required.

Assists in the design, modification and up-grade of mobile equipment.

Performs preventative maintenance and maintains power tools, overhead cranes, jib hoists and other shop equipment as required.

Accountable for the completion of scheduled and emergency repairs, installations, and inspection work as necessary. Obtains verification of work completion by signing work requests and work orders.

Interacts with visitors, vendors, and contractors.

12. Works in and / or around all types of hazardous materials in all areas of the plant. Applies the plant and department environmental policies and procedures to all work activities.

Performs job by referring to instructions, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, SSOP’s and work orders. Writes, updates and maintains drawings, work orders and SSOP’s as required.

Has the skills necessary to safely operate, maintain and perform duties necessary for pier and ship unloader operations when assigned and properly trained.

Responsible for proper time entry as to work performed.

Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and prescribed manner.

Writes necessary maintenance reports and records as required in the plant computer and maintenance management systems.

Maintains parts inventories for area of responsibility.

Is responsible for knowing role and responsibilities within Intalco’s Environmental, Health, & Safety management system.

Performs other related duties as directed.

    Minimum Qualifications :

    5 Years Relevant Experience

    Certification from a Technical College in field of the craft

    Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program
