Overview :

Our client is currently hiring for a Quantitative UX researcher, This person will plan and execute quantitative research for the Material Design team.

This role will provide Material Design with an understanding on how to synthesize different data streams, run quantitative data analyses, and prototype dashboards as part of a broader impact and value of design systems metrics effort.

Overall Responsibilities :

The researcher will collaborate with the mixed-method UX researchers and Material product teams to define and prioritize research questions.

Ensure effective communication of research findings, including synthesizing them into actionable recommendations to improve Material Design products and channels (e.g., Material.io).

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities :

  • Build an analytics dashboard with analytics against team goals or targets.
  • Develop data-driven driven processes and mindset within the team.
  • Drive change by communicating findings to stakeholders in the team, in our product partner groups, and across the company.
  • Make research findings convincing and actionable for both research experts and non-experts.

    Required Skills :

  • MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Statistics or a related field with a strong emphasis on Data Science techniques
  • 4 years of relevant work experience working cross-functionally with User Experience or Human-Computer Interaction experts and teams.
  • 4 years of work experience in an applied research setting.
  • Experience in a programming language commonly used for data manipulation and computational statistics (such as Python, R, PHP, Matlab, C++, Java or Go), and with SQL.
  • Demonstrated expertise in programming computational and statistical algorithms for medium to large data sets.
  • Experience with some of the following : multivariate statistics and the design of experiments; fielding experiments on crowd platforms;
  • designing and fielding surveys

  • Excellent command of research questions within a given domain, and of technical tools for the analysis of data within that field.
  • Candidates need to have a strong interest in User Experience (or applied Human Computer Interaction) problems and User needs.
  • Experience with cleaning and preparing / wrangling data (checking data quality, joining, aggregating, extracting features) to address the question at hand.
  • Nice to have Skills (not required) :
  • Human Computer Interaction User Centered User Experience (UX) Quantitative User Experience Researcher Design systems or UI component libraries
  • Experience with the following is a plus : tools such as R, Python, and SPSS; Human-Computer Interaction research; analytics dashboard building;
  • information visualization; data engineering; SQL.

  • This is a senior level role primary focused in SFO with remaining team.
