Role Overview :
The purpose of this position is to develop tests and methods to characterize Image sensors and systems with the Image Module Development and Imaging Processing engineering teams.
Evaluate new and existing CMOS and CCD Image Sensors and Imaging Systems. Design, analyze, and demonstrate image and video processing methods.
Perform research and development to produce and test new image modules for existing and future products. Produce quality analysis of image processing solutions and electronic circuit improvements.
Develop test procedures, fixtures, capture image data, perform data analysis, create and present test reports for Image Quality determination.
Key Responsibilities :

Algorithm Development Research new image processing techniques and technologies for camera systems and develop algorithms and calibration procedures to improve image quality in future and existing camera products.
Image Quality Analysis - Develop test protocols, fixtures, and analysis scripts to quantify image quality and sensor performance in terms of spatial and temporal noise, spectral response, photon response, color accuracy, etc.
Characterize noise, identify noise sources, and support re-design of electronic circuits, miniature cable transmission lines and shielding to improve signal integrity and image quality.
Quantify actual results obtained through data analysis.
Perform design margin and performance testing using test equipment and software.
Interpret the analytical results of image sensor characterization, and communicate results through test reports to the Image Processing Engineers.
Research market to identify new sensors that are suitable for future products.
Develop and document processes for Image Sensor Characterization and Image Quality Metrics.
Design, implement, and compare test circuits, image sensors, imager cables, and algorithms to improve image performance as necessary.
Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Evaluate changes in products per organizational risk management practices to ensure effective, safe and compliant devices are released to the market in accordance with current state and federal standards.
Key Requirements :
Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Bachelors of Science degree plus equivalent work experience required.
Ability to apply innovative solutions to moderately complex problems.
Must be able to understand / operate advanced test equipment.
Good working knowledge of MatLab with 3 years’ experience writing scripts.
Good working knowledge of electronic designs and reading schematics preferred.
Strong Mathematics background required.
Strong Communication skills required.
Strong digital signal processing background required.
3 - 5 years’ experience with video processing, color science and optical systems.
1 - 3 years’ experience working with CMOS and CCD Image Sensors.
