Individual is responsible for mechanical design engineering work on electromagnetic assemblies under the general direction of the Engineering Manager.
Duties include but not limited to development of customer focused, cost effective new products, product reliability improvements, and cost reduction efforts.
Individual to display design skill set linked to engineering validation that will grow into project level work and utilization of electromagnetic design.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
To perform the engineering design and validation of new product designs, that incorporates electromagnetic actuators. New customer special design requests are regularly developed that are determined to be design feasible or not within reliable performance envelopes.
Full utilization of 3D solid modeling software, Solidworks, is used effectively then 2D drawings are made for detail drawings.
Ideal candidate is an individual that can design mechanically within laws of physics with productive utilization of software.
To develop new product derivative designs that satisfies special customer requests. Also to grow into developing more extensive new product designs from smaller projects that will occur with experience and confidence.
Interaction with the sales / marketing groups to fully define customer needs as engineering level work grows.
To design with cost target goals in mind with design standardization without sacrifice of quality and reliability of product performance.
Emphasis is on design optimization in order to minimize purchasing and manufacturing costs.
To functionally interact with the engineering laboratory test model shop for design customer special prototypes. The lab helps to solidify product validation against performance specifications.
The Project Design Engineer should have an appropriate BS discipline degree with desire to design.
