Position Description Advertised Job Summary

Faculty position to teach on the Spartanburg and / or Greenville campus.

Tenure-track nine month faculty position to teach Accounting beginning August 16, 2019. Depending upon candidate qualifications and course needs, the teaching assignment can be in any area of accounting with financial accounting preferred.

Candidate should embrace diversity and be comfortable with community engagement and service that will include student advising, undergraduate research and experiential learning.

USC Upstate is located between Charlotte and Atlanta along the I-85 corridor, one of the fastest growing business and high-

USC Upstate is seeking teacher-scholars who have a commitment to excellence in teaching and working with a diverse student population and show clear potential for scholarly research and publication.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in student and civic engagement, and active learning pedagogies, such as service-

learning, mentoring undergraduate research, and the scholarship of teaching, learning and application; and experience with teaching online or hybrid courses.

The AACSB accredited Johnson College of Business and Economics currently awards a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting, Economics / Finance, General Business, Management, Marketing, and Logistics & Supply Chain Management.

The College also offer minors in Business Administration, Business and Entrepreneurship, and Economics as well as a dual program with Landshut University in Germany.

The Johnson College is located in a state-of-the-art 60,000 sq. ft. facility in downtown Spartanburg. The George houses the GreenHouse Business Incubator which provides shared work / office space, support and mentoring to area entrepreneurs to help them scale their ventures and attract investor funding.

The College of Business and Economics has approximately 800 undergraduate students from 18 states and 11 countries.

Required Education and Experience

Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Accounting or related field with relevant coursework in accounting. Candidate must have graduated from an AACSB International accredited program and be qualified as Scholarly Academic in Accounting under the AACSB 2017 standards and demonstrate a commitment to contributing to the College’s mission through excellence in teaching, student advising, service and professional engagement or scholarly publications.

ABD candidates with planned completion date by August 15, 2019 may also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification in Accounting; professional experience and ability to work closely with students and the professional community;
  • qualifications and ability to teach Intermediate Accounting.
