The Certified Medical Assistant Care Guide is responsible for registering, collecting payments, rooming, assisting the provider with care and treatment, discharging, and following-
before, during, and after the patient visit. The Care Guide is responsible for assisting the provider with front office and back office duties in the outpatient management of patients on a rotating basis.
This position is a vital part of the office team that cares for patients in the clinic setting working under the direction of the Manager Urgent Care (URGO) and the on-
discretion; good judgment; diplomacy; decision making; and a customer service attitude. Acting as the patient advocate, the Care Guide has continuous contact with providers, patients, patient families / significant others, community agencies, and patient care staff and management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
High school or GED equivalent
Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office and email
Completion of and passed a Certified Medical Assistant program by an approved OSF program
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
6 months previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent, previous experience with an electronic health record and phlebotomy
Knowledge of urgent care medical specialty
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of Epic
Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections
