Cobham is seeking a Contracts Manager. The Contracts Manager is a business partner who works closely with the extended leadership team, supporting Business Win, LCM and Bid and Proposal (B&P) diligence and ensuring related Governance is followed.
The Contracts Manager leads terms and conditions negotiations and, together with the B&P manager or Supply Chain professional, is responsible for identifying and mitigating business and legal risks in Customer facing and Supplier facing bids, contracts and Orders.
This position is located in Orchard Park, NY.
Key Responsibilities :
Support of Business Win process through effective negotiations of contract terms and integration of price, solution and delivery proposals prepared by Sales colleagues.
Analysis and assessment of Customer Requests for Proposals / Quotations, Invitations for Bid, Statements of Work, General and supplemental terms, etc.
in support of Bid and Proposal activities.
Interpret advise and ensure compliance with Contract Policy and Processes, and utilization of Governance resources.
Implementation of Group policies & procedures which relate to Commercial, Contracts & Legal function.
Support Sales and Supply Chain in Contract review, acceptance & order acknowledgement.
Establish relationships with internal and external customers.
Management of customer contractual claims.
Create contract summaries for management.
Preparation of inputs and support to Tender Vets and Life Cycle Management Reviews.
Advise on bid approval escalations requirements per Delegation of Authority as appropriate.
Manage the engagement of intermediaries in compliance with the Distributor / Reseller Engagement Policy and Advisor Engagement Policy.
Conduct periodic compliance checks on intermediaries.
Advocate Change management.
Mentor, coach and manage direct reports.
Conducts research as needed to complete assigned projects.
Design, implementation and rollout of best practice improvements in Contract management and Bid and Proposal disciplines.
Perform other such U.S. Export Controls related tasks and responsibilities necessary to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.

Minimum Requirements :
BS / BA degree with a business emphasis, or other degree plus 24 semester hours of business related courses from an accredited college or university.
3 years’ experience conducting legal research related to contracts, UCC, transactional or regulatory issues.
3 years of Federal Acquisition Regulations / Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations experience.
5 years of progressive experience in Contract Administration & supplier management, or a combination of the two.
3 years Aerospace and / or defense business experience.
This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws of the US.
In order to be eligible you must be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Preferred Qualifications :
Minimum 3 years’ experience serving as a Contracts Manager (or equivalent role) in an Aerospace or Defense hardware, systems or service contractor (subcontractor), or DoD procurement unit.
Minimum of 5 years’ general business or contract law related experience.
3 years of US export (International Traffic in Arms Regulations / Export Administration Regulations) licensing and regulatory interpretation experience.
3 years of People Management.
5 years of experience in Contract Negotiation.
Juris Doctorate or Master’s degree.
International commercial awareness highly desirable.
