A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DIESEL TECHNICIAN / MECHANIC
As a Diesel Technician / Mechanic, you maintain and test mechanical equipment, machinery, and components. You perform preventative maintenance on brakes, clutches, light electrical, suspension, component replacement, and other repairs.
With your great eye for detail, you perform basic diagnostics and identify components that need new parts or need to be replaced and order parts as necessary.
In addition to the above, as a level II Diesel Technician / Mechanic, you diagnose and repair external engine components, engine electrical, data link systems, in-depth fault training, foundation brake, air components, ABS systems, steering components, and HVAC systems with minimal supervision.
With supervision, you also work on drive train components including transmission and rear-end component overhaul.
As a level III Diesel Technician / Mechanic, you perform all the previous duties and may have the opportunity to lead the work of others.
Independently, you perform in-depth troubleshooting, repair, and failure analysis to OEM electrical systems, engine performance and electrical, engine overhaul, and drive train component overhaul.
Your time management skills assist you in completing service reports and other documentation on time. As you work, you follow all company safety policies and procedures in order to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
