The mission of the Hospital Services Department is to provide exceptional customer service to internal and external clients through operational expertise, education, quality support and best practices in management and stewardship of the organization’s inventory.
We are seeking a technician to receive and distribute orders for blood and blood components following detailed standard operating procedures.
The technician must have strong communication skills to provide high quality customer service to hospitals and internal clients, and are also responsible for irradiating and labeling of blood components, documenting temperature storage alarms, and reviewing quality control documentation.
This is a fast-paced, high-stress environment that requires extreme attention to detail and quality. We are highly scrutinized by regulatory organizations and need to adhere to proper documentation policies and strict standard operating procedures.
Three months of training will occur for 6 weeks during 1st shift hours, 5 weeks during 2nd shift hours, and 1 week during 3rd shifts hours to gain a complete understanding of the department operations before beginning the schedule.

This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position and will be either 2nd or 3rd shift.
Because the department is open seven days per week, 24 hours a day, the incumbent in this department is required to be available for holiday and weekend coverage, and will eventually be expected to be available for off-hours on-call coverage.
