Provide a safe environment for children ages 0-5 while they are at the Corps.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a safe nursery environment for children under the age of 5.
Ensure that the children’s needs are met, including but not limited to : changing diapers, toileting, appropriate snacks and access to toys.
Monitor interaction among the children.
Maintain open communication with parents of the children.
Supervise volunteers in the nursery, ensuring that they are assisting with child care.
All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Formal education / training in child development is preferred.
Previous experience in child care preferred.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter.
A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in lights of changing job situations / priorities.
Ability to communicate clearly in English with children and parents.
Certification in CPR and First Aid.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is required to do light to moderate physical work and must have be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to interact and care for children.
The work environment for this position includes a nursery / child care environment with a moderate to high noise level.
