Position Summary

As a key member of the Global Human Resources team, the Compensation and Benefits Specialist is responsible for leading the development and implementation of Search’s Global Compensation and Benefits programs in alignment with the organization’s Human Resources Strategic priorities.

This position provides high standards of HR advisory services globally in Compensation and Benefits and ensures that the costs associated with compensation and benefits are in line with the Search’s objectives, culture, and philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

Roles and responsibilities include :

Compensation

  • Lead the development of Search’s global compensation framework and design, including managing its implementation and planning processes to align with the organization’s compensation philosophy, business goals and strategy
  • Assess and redesign Search’s global pay structures for HQ, Regional and Country Offices
  • Compare compensation plans, job classifications, and salaries through data and cost analyses
  • Conduct salary and labor market research to define benchmarks
  • Research compensation trends and review and participate in relevant compensation surveys
  • Prepare and update salary scale based on market data analysis
  • Design reports and recommendations based on research and analysis for senior leadership
  • Ensure compensation practices and standards are in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations
  • Ensure compensation plans and structures are cost-effective and competitive
  • Ensure accuracy of staff data and safeguard the confidentiality of private information about employees
  • Evaluate and update Search’s compensation policies and procedures, as needed
  • Design a compensation package and create consistent compensation guidelines that match our work and organizational culture
  • Job Analysis

  • Create and analyze job descriptions, evaluate positions and classify accordingly
  • Update occupational classifications as needed
  • Conduct periodic audits, prepare and present reports
  • Make recommendations to managers regarding job descriptions, salaries, and classifications
  • Benefits

  • Lead the management and administration of Search’s global benefits portfolio (i.e health & life, disability, voluntary benefits, retirement plans, leave policies, wellness programs.)
  • Research and analyze global benefits plans and options and make recommendations to senior leadership regarding benefits expansion for HQ, Regional and Country offices.
  • Lead the annual benefits open enrollment and renewal processes
  • Ensure benefits plans and programs are cost-effective and competitive with the market
  • Conduct benefit surveys and educational workshops to determine the level of employee satisfaction and competitiveness
  • Collaborate with external vendors, including benefits brokers, financial service managers, and other vendors
  • Ensure accuracy of staff data and safeguard the confidentiality of private information about employees
  • Handle employee inquiries regarding benefits, as needed
  • Policy Development & HR Management

  • Lead the development and implementation of designated Global HR projects and policies in partnership with Global HR Business Partner Lead, Talent Management, and Regional HR Business Partners
  • Develop International assignment agreements and global mobility policies
  • Serve as a trusted business partner and advisor to management and staff
  • As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    You meet the following qualifications :

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Organizational Development or a related field or an equivalent number of years relevant work experience in lieu of educational requirements
  • Benefits role and / or as an HR Generalist with a high degree of responsibility in Compensation & Benefits
  • Previous experience with organizational psychology and labor market surveys
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a complex Global and / or International organization, International NGO, and / or non-profit
  • Experience working with regional and country offices, or multiple geographical locations
  • Broad view and sensitive approach to cultural differences
  • SHRM PHR or SPHR, SHRM-CP or SCP or CEBS Certification
  • Working knowledge or fluency in French
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources Management, policies, best practices and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of HRIS and HRMS systems, and various compensation frameworks
  • Working knowledge of job evaluation and job analysis systems
  • Knowledge of current federal and state labor laws, rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of total rewards programs, and other types of incentives and benefits
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Highly skilled in contract and vendor negotiations
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Ability to empathize and approach cultural differences with sensitivity
  • Strong with numbers : Must be numbers-oriented, as this position involves a great deal of quantitative analysis.

    Analytically inclined : Requires strong analytical capabilities in order to analyze trends, surveys, and spreadsheets to determine compensation and benefits strategies.

    Detail-oriented : Must be highly technical in nature and detail-oriented, as this position involves a considerable amount of research and the interpretation of data.

    Great communication : Must be able to communicate effectively with employees and senior executives. Must be comfortable presenting programs to employee groups and members of senior management.

    Strong Ethics and Discretion : Because this position regularly deals with confidential information, the position requires strong ethics and discretion when it comes to handling sensitive information.
