The Cabin Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that the highest levels of cabin safety and service are provided to Adobe executives, clients and guests who are traveling on board Adobe aircraft.
H / She designs and implements Best in Class’ safety and service standards, trains and leads Flight Attendants and acts as primary the interface between Adobe Global Aviation and the Employer of Record (EOR) for the contract Flight Attendants.
H / She is a flight crew member for selected trips but does not fly a full schedule. S / he actively promotes an atmosphere of collaboration, teamwork and shared success through a focus on the overall goals and objectives of the organization.
The Cabin Safety Manager reports administratively to the Senior Director, Aviation and functionally to the aircraft Captain for all assigned trips.
S / he is primarily responsible for ensuring that passenger safety is promoted and that an appropriate level of service and support is delivered that encompasses all expectations for in-
fight cabin comfort and productivity.
The Cabin Safety Manager works in accordance with the Adobe Aviation Flight Operations Core Process document (FO-CP-0100), the applicable sections of the Flight Operations Manual (FOM) and the Aviation Service Standards Manual.
The Cabin Safety Manager functions in accordance with all applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Rules & Regulations.
S / he maintains a high level of knowledge of company policy, in-flight cabin systems, food safety and first responder medical care.
The responsibilities of the Cabin Safety Manager include ensuring that aircraft cabin preparation is thorough, catering is appropriate, in-
flight cabin service is commensurate with passenger needs / expectations, post-flight duties are completed, and Commissary management is effective.
S / he uses superior judgment to ensure a safe and efficient cabin environment during all phases of flight and maintains a high level of professional conduct, decorum and appearance.
The Cabin Safety Manager acts as the primary interface between Adobe Aviation and the EOR for the contract Flight Attendants.
As a leader :
Drive excellence through exceptional customer service, sound judgment, ethical behavior, and continuous improvement.
Oversees the scheduling of all EOR Flight Attendants consistent with regulatory and Adobe Aviation FOM requirements;
Responsible for selection, training, development, assessment for all EOR Flight Attendants;
Provides performance feedback and coaching to EOR Flight Attendant personnel;
Fosters an environment of partnering and teaming among the Flight Attendant team;
Encourages an open dialog of collective experiences to be used for continuous improvement and performance recognition;
Completes annual line evaluation of each EOR Flight Attendant
The Cabin Safety Manager will collaborate and team with Aviation Leadership (Senior Director, Aviation, Lead Pilot and Maintenance Manager) for rapid, effective resolution of any customer service issues.
Effectively interfaces with Aviation Leadership and all aviation stakeholder groups.
Provides input to the Aviation Leadership on issues related to aircraft cabin systems, technology and customer service
Participates in special projects and assumes collateral duties as required;
Assumes additional responsibilities delegated by the Senior Director, Aviation.
As a key member of the crew :
Functions as a flight crew member in coordination with the flight deck crew and under the direction of the trip Captain;
Assumes the primary responsibility of ensuring passenger safety;
Has a complete familiarity with the FOM and all related processes and procedures related to cabin safety and service;
Ensures that S / he is physiologically and mentally prepared and capable of performing assigned duties on the flight schedule to the highest degree of safety and fitness for duty’ standards.
Participates in the pre-flight briefing and risk analysis conducted by the trip Captain;
Ensures that all risk mitigation actions relating to the cabin environment during the flight are conducted at the direction of the trip Captain;
Communicates necessary cabin service information to flight crew members in a timely manner;
Participates in the post-trip review with the flight crew, with specific focus on passenger safety, as well as catering, beverage or food service concerns, passenger comments / requests, or other service or cabin environment concerns.
As a Safety & Sustainability Advocate :
Demonstrates and maintains proficiency with the use of all emergency equipment, cabin egress, in-flight medical care kits and crew communication;
Is fully cognizant of his / her role in Emergency Response Plan (ERP);
Acts as the flight crew point person in the cabin in the event of an aircraft emergency and effectively coordinates with all flight crew members;
Ensures that the Safety Briefing as required by the FOM is provided to all passengers;
Maintains, assures currency and refreshes the over-the-counter, non-prescription medications stored on-board the aircraft;
Maintains all on-board safety equipment including the medical kits designated in partnership with Maintenance;
To maintain Cabin Systems :
Has a thorough knowledge of all cabin systems (environmental, galley, seating / berthing, JetBeds™, bedding standards, lavatories), traveler productivity (communications, Wi-
Fi) and cabin entertainment systems;
Ensures proper operation of aircraft emergency, galley and cabin equipment;
Communicates required maintenance of cabin equipment and systems to the trip Captain and the aircraft’s Crew Chief, if so directed
To delight the customer :
Maintains a clean, neat and orderly cabin environment during the flight;
Plans menus, procures supplies and provides first class food & beverage service and presentation consistent with passenger expectations and Adobe’s service standards;
Makes extraordinary efforts to fulfill passenger requests;
Possesses a sense of appropriate interaction regarding passenger service (Professional Distance);
Knows when to approach passengers and when to remain in the background;
Maintains complete confidentiality regarding business conversations occurring on board the aircraft;
Maintains Passenger Profiles in the scheduling system to ensure continuity of superior service.
Vendor Compliance :
Supervises the food safety of any food and beverage items brought aboard the aircraft;
Performs reviews (on-site to the extent practicable) of all primary catering vendors (covering food / beverage safety and quality) for risk mitigation and economic purposes.
Commissary management :
Manages aircraft Commissary including purchasing of all cabin stocks (including consumables, snacks, beverages, alcohol, wine, paper products, OTC and prescription medications, household items, etc.);
Maintains inventory control of Commissary (including stocking levels and reorder points) and ensures stock rotation;
Purchases all cabin entertainment media in relevant format;
Manages all cabin furnishings including dry cleaning of all linen and bedding and laundry / starch, ironing of linens, dish towels, etc.;
Reconciles purchases (including P-Card) through a detailed accounting of purchases supporting cabin commissary and equipment.
Policy & Procedures Development :
Develops and maintains the Aviation Service Standards Manual and Cabin Safety Manager sections of Flight Operations Manual (FOM);
Develops and maintains the Cabin Safety Manager Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Financial Performance :
Provides input and assists in the preparation of the annual department operating budget;
Responsible for meeting or exceeding Cabin Safety Manager budget expectations;
Acts as required on budget variance and reporting requirements.
Oversees the development and implementation of Flight Attendant training programs and qualifications.
As an industry liaison :
Maintains liaison with industry associations involving Flight Attendants;
Monitors department Cabin Safety & Service metrics and operational costs for industry benchmarking purposes;
Maintains awareness of new developments in cabin technology, productivity and entertainment systems for potential incorporation in Adobe aircraft.
To manage the operations :
Oversees and consults on the selection of cabin safety and service vendors in conjunction with Flight Operations, Third-
Party Handlers and Adobe Security;
Ensures that the proper resources are in place to support the Flight Attendant team;
Establishes metrics to ensure effectiveness of Flight Attendant operations.
Fleet Planning :
Assists the Senior Director, Adobe Global Aviation in the assessment of aircraft cabin amenities, service standards and specification / modification of aircraft interiors.
Diplomatic Protocols :
Ensures that all requisite declarations for alcohol and other controlled substances are prepared as required by foreign governments;
Ensures that processes are in place so that Customs Declarations are properly completed by passengers and submitted to the trip Captain at least 60 minutes prior to landing;
Maintains a valid US Passport with no foreign jurisdiction entry / exit restrictions, as well as appropriate visas.
Continuous Improvement :
Is actively involved in the continued development and deployment of the Adobe Aviation Safety Management System (SMS).
Aviation Department Support :
Maintains the highest levels of professional standards in travel and industry settings and acts as ambassadors for Adobe, enhancing the image and stature of Global Aviation and the Corporation;
Participates in Adobe Aviation’s special projects and assumes collateral duties as required;
Assumes additional responsibilities as directed by the Senior Director, Aviation.
