Responsible for organizing external communications efforts and pulling together frameworks for earned media. Manages social media campaigns, conducts meetings, oversees research, and leads external communications.
The Discover College Commitment
Plans and directs the development of communication programs.
Provides public relations counsel and coaches the business. Creates public relations project timelines.
Responds to requests for information from the media or designates a spokesperson. Pitches stories and answers requests for information from reporters.
Serves as a media contact for investor relations, corporate visibility, acquisitions, legal proceedings, business continuity, and product support.
Partners with management to create public relations plans, events, and campaigns. Attends briefings with the business, creates draft plans, and collects historical media coverage background related to the projects..
Skills : Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you :
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
4 years of experience as Journalist, PR Agency Account Representative, Communications Coordinator, or related field
In lieu of a degree, 8 years of experience in Public Relations Agency, Journalism, or related field
Preferred Qualifications If we had our say, we’d also look for :
Experience working with company spokespeople and with national, local, trade and social media
Exceptional communicator with superior writing skills, as well as strong verbal, presentation and editing skills
Understanding of organizational communications, media and trends to clearly communicate relevant news to key stakeholders
Adept at communicating in innovative ways and across a wide range of channels and mediums, including print, video, web and social media
Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence stakeholders across all business units
Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into clear and compelling communications
Strong track record of handling confidential / sensitive company information and adhering to the highest ethical standards
Ability to foster effective and collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization
Curiosity to learn and adopt the latest communications trends, strategies, tools and techniques to improve communications effectiveness
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and effectively handle demands from multiple business units
Advanced knowledge of media monitoring and measurement tools
Familiar with suite of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
Experience managing outside agency teams
