Responsibilities / Qualification
The Joint Simulation Bus (JBUS) Interface Developer is responsible for the life-cycle software engineering of JBUS system interfaces to meet Navy Service Program Manager objectives.
JBUS is a High Level Architecture (HLA) compliant simulation and Command, Control, Communication, Computer, and Intelligence (C4I) interface system and is a component of the core simulation used in the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE).
The NCTE is a federation comprised of many distributed simulation systems and interfaces used to support Navy and Joint Training, as well as Navy concept development and experimentation.
The JBUS Interface Developer is a contributor to the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) software engineering activities in support of Fleet Synthetic Training (FST).
NCTE Software Engineering provides modeling and simulation application development, live, virtual and constructive systems integration support and in-
service engineering support to US Fleet Forces (USFF) and the Number Fleets. The NCTE Software Engineering team is directly responsible, in this context, for developing and maintaining technical solutions and standards to provide the greatest level of training capability to the warfighter, at the lowest possible cost, at the fastest pace achievable.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under direct supervision, this developer will receive prioritized requirements from the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) Command Software Development Lead, work with end users to achieve robust, maintainable and effective simulation and C4I interfaces, and support the continuous improvement of the software infrastructure.
The developer will be required to work with a team of developers and subject matter experts to develop, enhance, integrate, and support JBUS.
Shell scripting is used to help automate tasks and query information. Git is the primary revision control system.
Assists in the writing and / or presentation of briefings (reports on analyses, findings, and project progress), project or task plans, system specification manuals, technical reports and user manuals.
Participates in the preparation of technical proposals.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline plus 2 to 7 years of directly related experience developing and maintaining software.
Subsequent employment, achieving employer funded Security+ and an OS certification will be required if the successful candidate does not have them already.
In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 5 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.

related IDE Experience using Software Configuration Management Tools such as SVN or GIT Shell Scripting or knowledge of other Scripting language C / C++ development experience Security+ and Linux+ certifications Experience in Modeling and Simulation (M&S) design Knowledge of HLA and DIS protocols Experience with C4I Systems System interface development experience Military domain experience
