Position Purpose

We seek someone with microbiology experience who will perform independent experiments relating to host-pathogen interactions.

The position will also involve interacting with other research groups through a role in the Transnational Research Core will analyzes clinical samples relevant to lung infections, including those associated with cystic fibrosis.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who seek laboratory experience for two or more years.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree, or the equivalent work experience; competence in several microbiology laboratory methods, procedures and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent work experience; competence in basic microbiology laboratory methods, procedures and techniques.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conducts laboratory experiments, utilizing a range of established methods, procedures, and techniques with necessary preparations, observes experiment, records observations and maintains laboratory notebook. 80%
  • Prepares appropriate and understandable representations of data such as graphs, charts, tables, statistical summaries, etc. 5%
  • Laboratory maintenance; orders lab supplies, monitors laboratory equipment and instrument performance, obtains maintenance and repair as necessary. 5%
  • Manage inventory of clinical isolates from samples, entering data into computerized databases, shipping strains, 5%.
  • May assist in animal research; including maintenance of mouse colonies, injections, breeding, in vivo assays and entering data into computerized databases. 5%
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
