What You Will Do

We are looking for outstanding candidates interested in multiple postdoctoral positions to work with Enrique R. Batista and Ping Yang at the Theoretical Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The successful candidate will employ electronic structure methods in one or more of the following areas of interest : Chemical bonding studies, chemical reactivity (reaction mechanisms, and rates), spectroscopic signatures of actinide-

containing systems (core excitations, x-ray emission, vibrational spectroscopy); chemistry and catalytic behavior of metal oxide surfaces.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements :

  • a strong theoretical background in quantum chemistry or condensed matter physics (Density functional theory, wave-function based methods, and molecular dynamics);
  • experience with major quantum chemistry and / or plane wave computational packages;
  • computer programming skills to develop code, modify and edit existing codes and scripts.

    Desired Skills : Computational method development and building code from scratch

    Education : PhD in chemistry or physics completed within the past five years or soon to be completed.
