The Facility Engineer CO-OP will work directly with the facility engineering group overseeing ALL Global Cooper facilities.

Activities will include assisting in the tracking of projects, assisting the Facility engineers in developing drawings and assisting Facility Engineers in updating specifications for the construction, maintenance, upkeep and improvements to all Cooper facilities, including NEW Cooper facilities.

The facilities engineering CO-OP will learn from an experienced Facilities Engineer the execution of projects from initial concept design to completion by following the process of defining the scope of work, design development, project execution to acceptance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Modifying and / or develop overall facility building layouts in AUTO CAD, and organizing existing building drawings electronically.
  • Develop, implement and update documentation for general facility requirements and new equipment.
  • Assisting the facilities engineers in collecting, analyzing and organizing fire protection engineering and building maintenance reports to be stored electronically.
  • Assisting the facilities engineers in collecting, analyzing and organizing global roofing site audit reports for to be stored electronically.
  • Becoming knowledgeable by assisting with fire protection specifications as these relate to building changes and additions to Fire Protection systems and Life Safety requirements.
  • Assisting Facilities Engineers with specifications including general construction; foundations, floors, walls, underground utilities, power distribution, lighting, HVAC, plumbing Teledata & Communications, etc.
  • Becoming knowledgeable and assisting with building projects including maintenance, modifications, new construction, and changes to existing facilities.
  • Activities will include becoming familiar with OSHA safety regulations, NFPA, IBC, NEC and other relevant engineering standards.
  • Communicate and track contractor activities to achieve project goals on time.
  • REQUIRED EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

  • Currently enrolled at a University and a candidate working towards a Bachelor Degree in one of the Engineering disciplines;
  • civil, construction, mechanical, electrical

  • Must be qualified to work in the USA on a full time, indefinite basis without the need for employment VISA sponsorship.
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Good analytical and time management skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Some experience working with CAD knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Computer and documentation skills knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Capable of handling more than one project and can deliver work in a timely manner
