In this position as a Senior Transportation Designer you will have the opportunity to work as part of a multi-discipline team on various Department of Transportation (DOT) freeway projects in both traditional design-
bid-build and alternative delivery methods. This is a great opportunity for an experienced, motivated, energetic individual to utilize their talents and abilities in a dynamic work environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
Providing modelling, CAD drafting and design assistance for a wide variety of projects, from report stage through design and construction administration.
Develop alignments, profiles, typical cross-sections, and grading cross-sections.
Undertake roadside safety design and roadway drainage design
Providing construction designs / drawings for transportation projects using computer-aided drafting programs.
Prepare technical analysis and design; including cost estimating, quantity calculations, etc.
Prepare and review detailed design drawings and presentation materials of highways, urban roads, interchanges and intersections.
Prepare quantities, contract drawings and documents for tender and construction.
Liaison with all discipline team members, sub-consultants, clients and agencies.
Provide support during construction phase as required.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Thorough understanding of Transportation design software(s), CAD standards, grading, and drainage design.
Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team.
Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
Working knowledge of software programs including MicroStation, InRoads and Adobe Acrobat.
Working knowledge of basic calculations.
Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience
A minimum of a B.S. degree and 10 or more years of relevant experience; or a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some visits to the field.
