To perform routine and complex clerical, accounting, and administrative work in accounts receivable, and general administration.
Essential Duties :
Performs routine clerical and administrative work, as well as answering the telephone and responding to citizen inquiries.
Investigates and follows up on related citizen complaints and, where possible, provides solutions or direction to the appropriate department or outside agency.
Assists with payroll responsibilities.Assists in the compilation of monthly reports.Balances all money received by Utility Collections department daily and prepares daily reports for submittal to the Finance department.
Reconciles account discrepancies with the Finance Department.Collects daily deposits for all City departments, verifies deposit totals with reports, and prepares pick up by armored transport.
Processes and notifies applicable parties of customer related payment issues.Prepares accounts for submittal to collection agency, reports payments made, handles queries and maintains spreadsheets.
Processes bankruptcy accounts for the City Attorney’s Office. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications :
or(C) C- Any equivalent combination or related education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : (A) A- Knowledge of computers to include spreadsheets and accounting software working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
B) B- Knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices.(C) C- Skill in operating listed office machines.(D) D-
Ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately and quickly. (E) E- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
F) F- Ability to work under pressure and / or frequent interruptions.(G) G- Must be able to type a minimum of 30 words per minute.
H) H- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
