Solar Project Manager- Consulting

The primary function of this position is to manage the design and integration of innovative onsite power generation systems (solar PV, cogeneration, battery storage and generators) systems into existing and new construction real estate in the NYC area.

Bright Power works with leading real estate owners / developers and building design teams to design and build customized onsite generation solutions that are optimized to meet our clients economic, sustainability and power resiliency goals.

Typical project types that this position will be responsible for managing the design integration ranging from 30kW to 500 kW solar PV projects to our integrated solar PV, cogeneration and battery storage Resilient Power Hub solution.

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated, well-organized, cooperative producer that is able to accomplish their project goals with integrity.

The successful applicant will also demonstrate an interest in the projects that he / she consultants on convert into installation projects for Bright Power.

The position will require an extensive knowledge of PV system design with a focus on identifying, communicating, and solving engineering risks that may impact a project's overall feasibility, cost, or constructability.

In addition to early-stage engineering coordination, the position will also require intermittent local on-site support including interfacing with AHJ's and Building Departments to support permit approvals, communication with clients on technical issues or concerns, interconnection coordination and planning with local utility.

This is the ideal role for an experienced power generation engineering professional to enhance their skills and impact by stepping into a key position with one of the NYC area's largest and most innovative onsite generation and energy efficiency companies.

The Role

Prepare reports and technical documents to present solar design / feasibility findings to property managers, building owners, developers, co-

op / condominium boards, and other decision makers at client buildings.

Evaluate the economic, engineering, or pragmatic feasibility of onsite generation installation projects based on architectural and MEP plans on existing or new construction buildings including the assessment of federal, state and local incentives.

Work closely with Bright Power's account management team to ensure client objectives are being achieved and that consulting projects are being converted to installation projects for Bright Power.

Mark up building electrical riser diagrams to include onsite generation system wiring and interconnections details and develop 3-Line diagrams.

Specify onsite generation equipment location and equipment type

Evaluate various utility programs such as net metering, demand response, remote net metering, community distributed generation and other VDER programs as they are developed and / or refined.

Determine and design electrical and thermal interconnection strategies for onsite generation systems

Manage diverse details from construction means and methods to contract language and legal protection.

Manage the design and coordination for onsite generation projects ranging from $200,000 to $3,000,000.

Maintain complicated schedules, develop project timelines, work with other trades, manage people and coordination to provide mark ups for architectural and MEPs.

Lead pre-construction design meetings with owners, architects, MEPs and general contractors.

Review and approve steel shop and electrical drawings from 3rd party contractors.

Act as the direct point of contact in communication with clients and stakeholders.

Assess and mitigate project risks in advance of detailed engineering efforts.

Develop and maintain outside engineering relationships with external companies used for engineering services.

Generate BOM's for each project, procure quotes from multiple vendors,

Work with team to refine and improve internal processes.

Qualifications

Excellent oral and writing skills to communicate with key stakeholders, including property management companies and building management staff.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Familiarity with new multifamily building design / construction processes.

Ability to read and understand Architectural plans including structural, electrical and plumbing trades.

Familiar with solar PV, battery storage or cogeneration, preferably in the NYC area.

Familiar with the NYS VDER program

The ability to create and manage a schedule and budget to required margins.

Experience managing vendor and client payment terms to achieve positive cash flow.

Understanding of financial models and management of budgeting cash flow.

Experience with design / build contracts from ground up that result in profitable construction projects.

Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, Sketchup, and MS Project or equivalent project scheduling software.

Working knowledge of NEC and NYC DOB Codes.

Familiarly with Salesforce is preferred.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Building Science, Construction, Energy Analysis, Environmental Studies, or a relevant field from an accredited four-

year college or university.

4+ years of experience designing and providing construction project management on design / build PV installation projects.
