    Job Summary : The Senior Quality Engineer is an integral member of the cross functional program management team and is the knowledge authority for quality related aspects of APQP, customer specific and PPAP requirements.

    The Sr QE is responsible for assuring all quality related Clause deliverables and customer expectations are met for each assigned program through prototype, pre-production builds and PPAP approvals.

    Major Accountabilities :

  • Execute assigned quality related tasks for assigned programs.
  • Ensures that advanced quality deliverables are completed on time and customer expectations are fulfilled.
  • Directly lead the Process Readiness and Quality Readiness check sheet process for assigned program; Ensure resources are identified for all elements, maintain tracking, report KPI, resolve problems, and escalate issues to management.
  • Participate and provides input in design reviews.
  • Participates and provides input to the program engineer in the development of DFMEA.
  • Facilitates / Participates in the development and review of plant PFMEA and Control Plans to ensure robust process / product controls are in place for mitigating risk through the launch phases and that lessons learned, customer rejections, and warranty concerns are captured in these documents.
  • Provides input in the identification of SC / CC on both customer and supplier documents.
  • Develops past problem history, warranty reports, and lessons learned and ensures countermeasures are in place for new launches.
  • Responsible for assisting problem solving for assigned programs for quality related issues utilizing 8Ds or other problem solving tools as appropriate.
  • Ensures that customer and internal quality problems are resolved in the required timeframe and in the required customer format (e.g. 8D).
  • Gains approval for appearance items from customers (when appearance items are specified on drawings).

  • Reviews GD&T and gauging methodologies for assigned programs.
  • Serves as a PPAP knowledge authority.
  • Defines customer specific requirements (Ford, GM, and Chrysler / Asian OEM German OEMS).
  • Interfaces and attends customer meetings relating to launches.
  • Interface with program management, launch management, engineering and plant quality engineers assigned to the program.
  • Participates in launch readiness reviews (LLR and ensures PPAP and quality related AQP concerns are raised and escalated for assigned programs).
  • Reviews safe launch process with plant quality Manager / engineer assigned to the program.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers resulting in excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Qualifications :

  • Ability to travel as work requires.
  • 5 years' experience in quality role in automotive is preferred.
  • 5 years' experience in stamping / welded assembly manufacturing plant is preferred.
  • Experience and competency in advanced quality planning including all AIAG core tools (AQP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and PPAP).
  • Experience and competency in facilitating DFMEA, PFMEA and Control Plan teams.
  • Proficient in use of a computer and common office software (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Good mechanical / technical skills and ability to read engineering drawings are desirable. GD&T proficiency is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Work Conditions :

    Travel to customer, Company manufacturing sites, and supplier sites will be involved. The position may require work with potentially hazardous products in a controlled, safe environment.

    Back-up Duties :

    Perform other duties as required.
